Course
Description:
This
course expands upon the concepts introduced in SGD171. Students
will augment their repertoire of ActionScript techniques and delve
deeper into the possibilities of interactive media in the Flash
environment. Topics include time line effects, extensibility
layers, and features such as code snippets, preloaders, arrays and
loops. Upon completion, students should be able to create a simple
simulation or game using Flash.
Course
Goals:
Expand
upon the student's knowledge Adobe Flash interface and the
ActionScript 3.0 Programming Language.
Broaden
the understanding of creating interactive
media.
Create
and utilize vector assets within the Flash infrastructure.
Examine the finer details of creating interactive media.
Course
Objectives:
Design
more sophisticated vector graphic assets and animation using
Flash drawing tools.
Demonstrate
animation techniques and create original detailed assets,
backdrops, and symbols.
Apply
ActionScript3 code to create richer interactive media.
Develop
a more refined simulation/game using Flash utilizing such
techniques as pre-loading, physics, collision, score-keeping.

Tests
must be taken on the assigned date, otherwise a grade of zero
will be assigned. Any exceptions to this policy must be the
result of a documented emergency or prior arrangement with the
instructor. Makeup tests may be administered on a day near the
end of the course designated by the instructor for that
purpose. To take a makeup test, the student must submit a
written explanation for missing the scheduled test.

other non-course related task is forbidden. Violation of this
rule will result in a grade deduction and possible loss of
computer privileges.
The
college forbids the use of all audible electronic equipment
during instructional time. Forbidden devices include but are not
limited to: cell phones, smart phones, MP3 players, and PDAs.
If
you miss a lecture or arrive late, you are responsible for the
material presented, handouts distributed, and any announcements
made that day. The instructor will not provide notes for missed
classes.
Note:
