Description: This course provides an introduction to software quality assurance as it relates to simulation and game development. Emphasis is placed on designing and using testing tools, usage of bug databases, and on learning methodologies required for systematic, detail-oriented testing procedures for the simulation and game industry. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the proper skills to obtain a job as a quality assurance tester in the simulation/game industry.


Course Goals:
  1. To introduce the basic skills required to get a quality assurance position in the games industry
  2. To teach how to apply those skills on the job
  3. To demonstrate the types of bugs that you may encounter while testing
  4. To practice how to identify, log, and track bugs using industry standard software
  5. To introduce the game production cycle and how Quality Assurance fits into the larger picture
  6. To practice these skills by working through real world examples


Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion, students will be able to demonstrate (through completion of classwork and assignments) an understanding of a good game design and an overview of the game development process.
