What does "challenging a course" mean?
You may feel that you know the contents of a course and want to get credit for it without actually taking it. You have the option of "challenging" that course, which means you take a thorough exam (includes theory and hands-on questions) to prove your knowledge. If you pass, you get the credit hours of the course applied toward your certificate or degree, but you do not have to take the course.
Which courses am I allowed to challenge?
You will have to contact the appropriate department head to determine which classes can be challenged.
How do I sign up to take a challenge exam?
- You must register and pay for the course you wish to challenge. You will be required to show photo ID and proof that you have paid for the course before you will be allowed to take the exam. You must contact your department head to see if a challenge exam is available for the course. You may be given a short pre-challenge exam.
- You should be aware that you may not be eligible for a challenge exam or there may not be one available for the course.
What is the passing score on a challenge exam?
Please check with the appropriate department head.
